David Challis, Ph.D.
Dr. Challis is currently Director of Personal Social Services Research Unit ( PSSRU) at the University of Manchester and has been a Professor of Community Care Research at the University of Manchester since November 1996.
Dr. Challis holds a B.A. in Social Science at York, an M.Sc. in Psychiatry from Manchester, a Cert. PSW/CQSW from Manchester, a Cert. Ed. at Birmingham, and a Ph.D. from Kent.
His current research interests include care management in old age and mental health services; dementia care, health and social care interface; integration of health and social care; assessment of older people; performance management. His pioneering work developing and applying the Balance of Care methodology has made major contributions to our understanding of how to determine the most appropriate mix of resouces needed to care for frail seniors.
Dr. Challis is a member of the CIHR Team in Community Care and Health Human Resources.
