Thomas Rathwell, Ph.D.
Dr. Rathwell is a Professor in the Faculty of Health Professions, School of Health Services Admin at Dalhousi University. Dr. Rathwell's research embraces: health policy analysis, with an emphasis on gender issues; primary health care; and, health system reforms. He is interested particularly in the manner in which the reforms have been implemented in the international setting and their impact on health systems and has published widely on this topic. He has received funding from, among others, Human Resources Development Canada, Maritime Centre of Excellence for Women's Health, Social Science and Humanities Research Council and World Bank. He has been an advisor/consultant to the World Health Organization, since 1982 and in this capacity has prepared background briefing papers, subject-specific discussion papers, and directing several workshops on aspects of health administration.
