Janet M.Lum
Ryerson University professor, Janet Lum, is the Co-Chair of
the Canadian research network for care in the community (CRNCC).
The CRNCC is is an international network of over 250 members
including researchers, providers, citizen groups, community
organizations, consumers and policy makers. Its goal is to lead
the exchange of knowledge and research evidence about the crucial
role of community support services within the broader continuum
of health and social care. The CRNCC is funded by the Social
Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and
Ryerson University.
Janet is also involved in a number of multi-year, multi-university
projects including a CIHR Team Grant on Community care and health
human resources and a SCHRC funded project on Community support
services at the margins: How community support agencies mediate
the impact of health and social services restructuring. She
was the academic lead on a United Way funded project studying
the role of Community Service Agencies in providing community
support services to help maintain the health and well-being
of seniors in supportive and unsupported social housing and
is currently conducting a follow-up study. As a research associate
at the Joint Centre of Excellence for Research in Immigration
and Settlement (CERIS), she investigates issues faced by ethno-racial
minority seniors. She co-directs the graduate program in Public
Policy and Administration in the Department of Politics and
Public Administration, Ryerson University.
